Fire Damage >> Debris Removal

Did you know that nearly 3,500 children are injured or lose their life due to fires annually?  Some of these fires are a result of children playing with matches, lighters or candles. Without a doubt we need to educate our children about the dangers of Debris Removal. But we must be careful not to frighten them, especially with our younger children. Face it, fire can be very frightening for adults, could you imagine what a child would think.

  1. When we see movies or shows on the television and there’s a building that's on fire it’s always dark and smoky, then a fire fighter breaks through the door wearing his fire suit with all of his gear and the light on his helmet. Teaching a child not to play with matches and lighters Debris Removal obviously is very, very important, but it should probably begin with prevention. If these starting devices are out of the reach of children already the situation is much safer. Now, as the children get older we would have to get more creative, think of tougher and more complex locations to store our flammables and fire lighting devices.
  2.  Having a good idea where our children are and what they’re doing at all times is another really good preventative measure. The majority of these “playing” Debris Removal are in the home (83 percent), in a bedroom (40 percent), by a child between the ages of 4 and 6 (44 percent) and by a boy (83 percent). So let’s get started today teaching our young ones the importance of fire safety. So let's talk about teaching young children about fire safety, there is an excellent DVD called “Elmo Visits the Firehouse. It's an interactive and educational DVD that takes a look inside of a firehouse, explaining about the different types of trucks and gear the firefighters wear to protect themselves against Debris Removal damage.
  3. There is also some very good books that your children would really enjoy. There is a book about Barney when he visits a fire station and talks to firefighters and a book about Curious George and the man with the yellow hat go to the fire station. It's very important to teach children about the dangers of fire and Debris Removal damage. Also to let them be aware that firefighters are their friends and are here to help.
  4. And of course the USFA which stands for the United States Fire Administration which is part of FEMA has a wealth of information to teach our children about fire safety and the dangers of fire damage. They have all kinds of activity books to make learning about Debris Removal safety fun and interesting. They also have all kinds of songs that can be downloaded so you could play them for your children.
  5. So the responsibility is ours, the more that we teach our children about fire safety, the better prepared they will be in case they ever have to deal with the fire. The more they know the better chance you have of walking away from some kind of fire damage unharmed.
