Before you can begin to clean up your Basement Drying property, it is very important to carefully document any water damage to the structure.   3. If the outside groundwater level is higher than your inside basement floor and you pump the Basement Drying water from your basement, your foundation walls might be pushed inward and collapse. If the basement is flooded with several feet of flood water and you are reasonably certain that all of your floor drains are operational, you could assume that the outside groundwater table is very high. It is advisable to leave the flood water in place until the groundwater table can sink and the Basement Drying recedes by itself. If the basement contains only a few inches of flood water, however, you might be able to pump it out safely.
  4.  Always, keep in mind that if the outside groundwater level is higher than the floor, the water will always return. If you can’t pump the flood water out of the basement, you could still begin to ventilate the rest of the Basement Drying building. The sooner these water damaged materials dry, the less chance of water-related problems. Consult with your local health officials to decide if there is any sanitizing agent that could be used to treat of standing flood water in the basement. Flood water can exert tremendous pressure on exterior foundation walls and floor slabs.
