Skunks are very well-known, nocturnal residents of most of the country. The common striped skunk, is characterized by prominent, lateral white stripes that run all the way down its back. Otherwise, the skunk’s fur is jet black, the body of the adult striped skunk is about the same size of an ordinary house cat.
