Skunks are very well-known, nocturnal residents of most of the country. The common striped skunk, is characterized by prominent, lateral white stripes that run all the way down its back. Otherwise, the skunk’s fur is jet black, the body of the adult striped skunk is about the same size of an ordinary house cat. The spotted skunk, which lives in the same areas of the country, is more weasel-like, and is more Animal Damage readily distinguishable by its white spots and short, broken white stripes in a thicker  jet-black  coat.

  4.  Skunks traditionally have inhabited clearings, pastures, and other open lands bordering forests, but with the urbanization of many rural areas, people and skunks have come in much closer contact. In some urban areas, skunks might den under house decks and utility sheds or under loose foundations. They also establish their dens in hollowed out logs or may use old woodchuck burrows. Although, skunks Animal Damage are highly beneficial to farmers, gardeners, and landowners because they will feed on large numbers of agricultural and many garden pests. They will eat plant and animal matter in about equal an amount during the fall and winter, but they will eat considerably more animal matter during the spring and summer when the insects, their preferred food, are more readily available.
