Sewage Cleanup >> Mold Remediation

When your building is contaminated with sewage backing up from the septic lines, or some kind of flooding in your building occurs that involves sewage, as in the case of river flooding, a serious threat to the human health exists. Without the appropriate action, extensive Mold Remediation damage to your building materials will occur immediately or else in time. Several days might elapse before the cause of the sewage backup is determined, the problem is corrected, and flooding subsides.

  1. This will allow extensive absorption and contamination of your building materials such as wood, drywall, wallpaper, and even the concrete could occur. This penetration with sewer water leads to the growth of potentially disease-causing microorganisms. These organisms might pose a serious health risk to the occupants of the building. The water-saturated building materials could be used as substrate for the growth of microorganisms like bacteria and fungi, that can produce substances toxic to humans and Mold Remediation damaging to your building materials. A large amount of sewer water inside your building will cause high relative humidity, which could also contribute to microbial growth on your structural materials and its contents.
  2.  Some of the questions you need to answer in this situation might be the like, what are the effects of the initial Mold Remediation contamination on your building, its contents, and the health and welfare of its occupants? What will be needed to thoroughly clean up the sewage contamination and repair the water damage?  Should the whole building or any portion of your building be evacuated and, if so, for how long?  Could the semi-porous building materials be decontaminated, or should they all be replaced? What are the immediate consequences of using inadequate measures to remediate and restore the water damage?
  3. What are the deciding factors that help determine when your building is safe or not safe for occupancy? What Mold Remediation steps should be used to test for these decisive indicators? What is the overall effect of the sewage damage on your other systems, especially your air changing system (ACS) and your heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in the building’s environment? There are several other factors bearing on the water remediation of the Mold Remediation problem. Among these problems are the nature of the sewage contamination, the types of water-damaged building materials, the sewage micro-flora, the pathogens and allergens, the organic matter load, water amount, and the impact of the ambient outdoor temperature and the relative humidity on the indoor environment.
  4.  One of the greatest concerns are the survival of sewage-borne micro-flora, the viral, bacterial, fungal, or parasitic and their potential transmission of disease to humans. The possibility exists for some fungal and bacterial contaminants to create an ecological niche and present a health risk from the chronic exposure. The primary discussions within this paper will address the immediate and the long term effects of the sewage flooding contamination on your building's structural materials and your contents. The potential effects on your occupants and the procedures to remove the Mold Remediation contamination to include flushing and rinsing with clean water and detergent solutions, vacuuming, dehumidification, and the disinfection.
