The occupational safety and health administration has regulations concerning the health and safety of everyone in the workplace. This federal agency regulates the standards for any industry that works with OSHA Asbestos Abatement or that manufactures anything made of asbestos such as the shipping industry and some automobile parts. OSHA provides a certain amount of training for the employers of industry and other individuals that work in the asbestos related fields.

Employers of all industries must abide by these certain standards, there could be fines and other citations imposed on an employer especially if there are repeated infractions.
  2. Every employee that works in the area of OSHA Asbestos Abatement is required to be trained under the strict OSHA guidelines. Of course this training should begin before any work is initiated so the employees are trained on the protection that they will need. This training will include, the proper use of protective clothing, the correct type a respirator and any kind of procedure that is required and the safe handling of OSHA Asbestos Abatement.
  3. All of the OSHA safety standards are taught including the proper disposal and latest cleaning techniques. Also any employer must train their housekeeping staff that work in every area of industry that asbestos might be present. They will be trained on the safety procedures that are set forth by OSHA in dealing with OSHA Asbestos Abatement and the hazards of working with this material. As asbestos begins to deteriorate or becomes damaged the fibers are released and the staff members need to be trained on the appropriate response and the proper protocol.
  4. These workers must also be trained on how to identify OSHA Asbestos Abatement and how to avoid the exposure of it. If these workers are not informed of the possible danger, they could be in constant exposure for years without any knowledge. Construction workers have specific requirements that their employers are subject to and must also be trained under the OSHA guidelines in dealing with OSHA Asbestos Abatement. This training will supersede any kind of standards that are set forth for general industry, because the standards will apply to staff that are exposed to asbestos that is airborne above the safe levels. Some of the training that deal with the similar hazards from general industry will be covered such as the identification of an engineering controls.   5. The regulations that pertain for OSHA Asbestos Abatement in the shipbuilding industry are very specific, these workers must also be trained prior to any work assignment, with annual refresher classes. These asbestos safety training classes are very specific to this industry they have four categories classes one through four applying to those workers in different asbestos operations. The guidelines for these are handled through the Environmental Protection Agency.
