Hoarding >> Compulsive Hoarding Fire Damage

Because compulsive hoarding is a disease that involves the collection of items that could be considered of little or no value and in most cases a person that is a compulsive hoarder will collect some many items at their homes become a hazard especially when it comes to fire. As the compulsive hoarder collects items like papers and empty cardboard boxes their kitchen counters begin to stack up to the point of the pile collapses onto the nearby stove causing a Compulsive Hoarding Fire Damage.

  1. Did you know that there are nearly 400,000 house fires annually, in the United States alone and the leading cause of these fires is from cooking. It is said that over 42% of house fires originate in the kitchen area, because of these statistics it is not hard to imagine how likely it would be for a fire to break out causing extensive Compulsive Hoarding Fire Damage. As you can imagine, if there is stove with flammable material right at its edges it would not take too much for those materials to catch fire and because there would be so much clutter the fire could grow quickly totally engulfing the kitchen and soon the entire home.
  2. Fire educators constantly teach about having an exit route that a person could use in case your home catches on fire. In the case of a person with the disease of compulsive hoarding they would accumulate so much stuff blocking these exit routes and causing a Compulsive Hoarding Fire Damage. In homes that are owned by people that are compulsive hoarders this disease stems from the disease obsessive-compulsive disorder. They cannot control themselves when it comes to collecting and the collecting sometimes get so out of hand that part or all of their house becomes filled with items that some people would consider garbage. As this garbage begins to pile up the home tends to have trails with piles and stacks of things like old papers that become Compulsive Hoarding Fire Damage.
  3. There has been cases, because some of the items have been there so long without being cleaned and with the presence of a little bit of moisture that it creates spontaneous combustion. Some of these objects will just automatically ignite, this is especially true with old mattresses, now days they try to make mattresses using nonflammable materials. But this wasn't always true, before this technology was available they could figure out how to take nonflammable materials and safely make them into the mattress. The old mattresses were very flammable and as they gained age and were soiled from years and years of use just a little bit of moisture and heat and it would cause a Compulsive Hoarding Fire Damage.
  4. So if you have a loved one that is a compulsive hoarder and you feel that their home is a potential for Compulsive Hoarding Fire Damage then by all means do something before it's too late. Get some help, take matters in your own hands, but please intervene if you really love them. They may not understand and they may fight you, but it will be worth it.
