Debris Removal >> Storm Damage

Applying for a reimbursement grant from FEMA can be a time-consuming but worthwhile process. Like many government agencies there are endless types of forms and finding the correct one may be difficult. Like any type of reimbursement there are deadlines where the forms would have to be submitted. Even after you have filled out all of the Storm Damage proper forms, it's still up to FEMA to decide if the responsibility is theirs. But it's worth a try.

  1. FEMA stands for federal emergency management agency, they’re who you go to when there is a major natural disaster like a flood, or hurricane, or tornado. They were there after Hurricane Katrina and after hurricane Sandy. They help put people's lives back together, they help in the relief effort and the cleanup of Storm Damage. Sometimes they have money in the form of grants they can assist in the cleanup of a disaster.
  2.  Go to the address bar on your computer and type in FEMA.gov, when their webpage comes up, find the search box on the upper right hand corner of the page, type in Storm Damage and click go. Find the link that says “FEMA: Debris Removal from Private Property.” When I did this I found the link about three fourths of the way down the page.
  3. Back up to the search box in the upper right hand corner of the page, type in “Submission of Requests for Public Assistance by Applicant”. Sure enough, it popped up, the very top one, scroll down to where it says forms, now here's your choice, the first form is for grantees. It's the “Request for Federal Assistance Core Form SF – 424. This request of federal assistance is in the form of a grant. The other form is for SubGrantees: it's the Request for Public Assistance in Storm Damage form 90 – 49.
  4. The submittal of this request must be made within 30 days after the designation of the area where the storm damage occurred. The request must be submitted to the Regional Administrator. The form may be faxed, sent by mail, or delivered in person at the Applicants Briefing. I hope that you found this article helpful, and good luck in getting your reimbursement for your Storm Damage.
  5. Since the beginning of FEMA, this government agency has helped in many Storm Damage situations and coming to the aid of thousands of people in every part of the country dealing with all kinds of disasters. They have been there during the most horrific tornadoes, hurricanes, and flooding and they also have been there for less serious storm damage, but still were much appreciated by the people that they have served.
