The expression mildew is sometimes used in conjunction with mold. Mildew is mostly used to define kind of a specific mold fungus that grows on plants and is usually characterized by a soft downy, whitish or even silvery resemblance. Mildew is also sometimes used to define mold growing on your textiles, leather, or building material exteriors. These VOCs are likely accountable for the distinct musty odor related with mold growth. Research is being lead on the health effects of VOCs created by molds.
